[Battlefield 1943] Battlefield 1943 (Xbox360) won't connect after creating EA and Origin accounts.

My son purchased Battlefield 1943 for the Xbox 360. The game installed and launched with no issues. When trying to connect to play the game it said we needed an EA account so we created one using my wife's personal email address. My son's account is associated with my email address, which I also have purchased Battlefield 1943 for my own gamertag.

We used this information to log in with, but each time we select the "A" button to submit, the window launches saying that it's connecting but it stays that way indefinitely.

I have logged back into the EA account and Origin account and made sure there weren't any kind of settings that needed to be updated or additional information required on our end.

I've searched through the forums and this seems like it's been posted several thousand times and unanswered successfully.

What steps need to be performed to play the game?
