battlefield 3 error 0x0000007e

Hello !

I bought this game about a month ago and this is the first time trying to play it. Had no problem installing it , but when i try to launch it there's an error popping up , saying : "Invalid license . Reason code = Missing DLL Error 0x0000007e ".

Could somebody tell me what is going on? I'm new at this so i have no ideea what to do.

Thank you!

Hey @GeHasBeeR can you try installing the most up to date version of VC++ to see if it helps.

You can find the latest version on the Microsoft website: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2977003/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads

You need to install both of the following:

    • vcredist_x86_vs2015 (for 32bit Windows version)
    • vcredist_x64_vs2015 (for 64bit Windows version)

If you get the message that the files are already installed, select Repair instead. It is recommended to run the installer as administrator (right-click the file, select run as admin).

  • Hey @EA_Darko , thanx for replying !

I just did what you said and it gives me the same error. I actualy installed those before installing the game itself.

Do you have another solution , please?!

  • Delete the Origin\Origin Games\Battlefield 3\__Installer\directx\redist folder completely

in Origin do a right-click -> Repair Install on Battlefield 3 and all the DLCs (where available)

(This is from my old stored documents, so worth a shot)

@GeHasBeeR since it seems to be a license issue try this:

    1. Go to your C:\ drive

(ff you install everything on a different drive and just use C for OS, it may be on that different drive. Check C:\ though first as it's the default that you shouldn't be able to change)

    2. You should see Program Files, Program Files (x86), Users, etc. Find the folder named "ProgramData" and navigate to "C:\ProgramData\Electronic Arts\EA Services\License"

    3. Delete the .files inside. When you launch BF3 again Origin will automatically recreate the file and that'll fix your problem.

    @ragnarok013 Hello!

Tried doing that and it doesn't work. It had only one file named 70619.dlf, i deleted it , tried starting the game , i get the same error, the file comes gets recreated the same way.

The thing is after the game refuses to start and gives me the error , it doesn't let me try launching the game once more. I have to either shut down Origin , or to restart the computer.

    Thank you,anyway! 🙂
