Performing a connection test whilst the game is still running prompts you to close the game to run the test on PS3. Anyway, this did not fix the issues I was having.
Currently the only temporary fix is to remove all DLC content then install the minimum online pass since the issue only affects DLC content when contacting the EA servers.
I logged the connections being sent from my PS3 through my router in order to figure out what EA server could be causing the game to hang.
A connection to https://playersyncservice.ea.com:443/ is attempted but the address appears to be down from the browser. Maybe this is the cause of the problem?
What's bugging me still is whenever I go to the PS3 store from my game menu the store screen freezes up ! So how do I renew the lease on my server when it runs out!!??
Is is this how EA is going to shut down the online play of the game ?

Anyone happen to have a solution for Xbox? I'm playing backward compatible on Xbox One. BF3 was working fine and just recently I have been having the same multiplayer or online function-only issues which is causing the game to totally crash. I've also tried or asked my boyfriend to try the fixes mentioned and nothing works. He can actually play just fine on his account but for whatever reason it fails for me. I'm certain it's on EA as again this just recently became a problem... any help would be seriously appreciated!! I was having a lot of fun playing this.
