Battlefield 3 in PC with a controler

I am actively trying to play BF3 in my computer right now, but for some reason, I cannot use the same command set to "Space" in the tutorial area with my controler, this is EA, you sould at least have 100% compatibility with the controler, because, leting my hand out of my controler to press space in the keyboard is just sad, and I want to play this game in its full potential, but this is some BS that is pushing me away, and I have pressed all the buttons in the controler even the PS button, nothing works, almost 14 years old this game and you don't fix this minor problem, are you even a gaming company?
