Battlefield 3 Missing Content

Whenever I go to play Battlefield 3 Servers which contain DLC I’m always shown the message “Game Disconnected: Content is missing from the game”.

I own Battlefield 3 Premium on Steam through EAPlay and own it on Origin by direct purchase, both versions give me the exact same error no matter what I do.

I've contacted EA Support, Cleared Origin Cache, Uninstalled and Reinstalled both versions, Did a clean install of windows and also tried verifying files with both of them. None of the above has worked and I can’t find anything about this issue, it’s so damn frustrating because I’ve been getting on the hype train for BF6 and went back to play some older Battlefield’s only for this issue to happen in BF3.

Please, if anyone can suggest anything I’d be grateful.

  • @xAcidous I found another solution her on AHQ for missing content that may work if you know which content is missing. In this case the poster was missing B2K.

    "Xpack1 missing installer data.xml
Copy "__Installer" to Xpack1 from Xpack2, open it and replace all "Close Quarters" with "Back to Karkand", then I joined the game it "

Have you verified that the DLC was actually installed before joining the DLC servers?

One thing that may help is deleting the license file by going to C:\ProgramData\Electronic Arts\EA Services\License and delete the file/s there then start the game. The game will create new license when the game launches and then it should work.

I tried looking in ProgramData but all that was there was “NvidiaCorporation”. I’ve made sure to uninstall both the game and DLC’s multiple times, I’m assuming it might just be Battlelog being Battlelog and not working right.

I appreciate the help anyway, I’m just confused because EA Advisors have gave me permissions time and time again and it never seems to work. I couldn’t even play B2K until I somehow managed to  get that to work at least.

Edit: I managed to find it, was hidden away somewhere else but it didn’t help. Thank you anyway for the suggestion 🙂

I’ll go ahead and try that now, I’ll let you know the results.

    thanks again man 🙂

Edit: Sadly this didn’t work, I’m supposedly missing CQ, AK, AM, EG since those are the servers I can’t join. I checked those folders and all of them had their installer.xml already in them.

I’m going to wait until my subscription with EAPlay ends in a few days and see if my origin version works again, I think Steam might be messing with all the files somehow.

  • I have this for more than a year now, even rebought the game on the Origin store and bought keys and activated them. EA can't fix it, they don't know how their licensing mechanism works anymore. The error started for me after I bought the Steam version and refunded it. No matter what I do, even if I activate the DLCs one by one, always 2 or 3 are not working. I gave up contacting the support, it's a waste of time.

  • Actually what they did a few times, they removed my licenses and weren't able to readd them and then just left the chat or told me to restart my computer just to pass it to another agent. So a few times I had to rebuy the game because EA deleted a license I was paying for and they don't care even a little bit about it. They just ripped me off there.
