Exciting to hear you're diving into BF3! For veteran Battlefield fans, there's a lot of them out there that claim it's the best. 🙂
You'll need to have Xbox Live Gold. If you're sharing a membership on your console, double-check to see if you're being allowed to share it. That tends to be the issue when someone has gold but it's giving them the Xbox Live error.
