Battlefield 4 - Stuttering, Lag, Latency Drops, FPS Drops

Good day everyone, new battlefield player here with a bit of a problem.

First I need to preface that I tried various fixes to try and resolve this problem with no success and when looking to other stutter issues other people had I hadn't found anything that overlaps with my issues so without further ado. I'm experiencing various stuttering and latency issues when in a server. Regardless of the server and my latency to it; it could be 30 ping or 300 ping and I will recieve the same stuttering issues as if the game cannot practically keep up with my numerous inputs and commands whilst on the right side the latency symbols light up like a car dashboard on Christmas.

Packet Loss, High Latency, Latency Variation, Low FPS all light up at points but the frame counter on the top displays my frame rate as locked to my refresh rate of 144hz as I am using VSync, there's little small variations of course depending on the high intensity explosives etc. But it only drops like 3 to 10 fps. I have never seen it drop bellow 130FPS. I find it especially confusing as yesterday when I played with a friend on a higher latency server it was just fine, nothing was present, no issues what so ever that were preventing me from playing the game, I had my settings even on high whilst right now I downed them all to medium and it did the same.

My Computer Specifications:

-CPU: Intel Core i7-7700 - 4.1Mhz

-Chipset: H270 - Intel Kaby Lake - S

-Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-H270-Gaming 3

-RAM: 16GBs - 2 x 8Gbs Kingston HyperX Red DDR4 2400mhz

-GPU: Sapphire Radeon R9 Dual-X R9 270

-Monitor: Benq Zowie XL2411P 144hz

My Network Specifications:

My ISP provider is Telekom - T-Home - T-Mobile and I am able to reach speeds up to 7 - Mbps on rare occasions and a maximum of 1 Mbps on constant use.

Any assistance I receive in resolving the issue would be appreciated. Thank you up-front.

  • The problem is most likely (what seems to be) your unstable internet connection. Try closing down all other applications with access the internet in the background.

Also, unless you have issues with screen tearing you should disable VSync as it causes input lag.
