Battlefield 4: Game closes after a few seconds
Hello EA Support Team (and others 😉 ),
I love Battlefield 4. The beta worked just perfect fine on my PC, without lags and crash, so did the full version on release. I didn't played it much due some stress at work. As I said, I played it for a few hours on ultra graphics, it worked fine without lag and problems. But since I accidentally updated to Windows 8.1 I got this problem:
I join a server via Battlelog, connect and wait. Then, ingame, I can play for a few seconds, the game then closes itself. It does not crash, it looks like I go to the menu, and click on exit. I get a black screen and the white "_" symbol on the right upper corner flashing for a few seconds, then it's off. It doesn't matter which server or so, just after a few seconds (or when I get killed) this happens. As I said, no crash - It just ends itself?!
I re- Installed Battlelog (plugin), repaired the game files in Origin, disabled firewall/Windows defender, updated ALL drivers, C++, .NET framework and so on - Still, nothing.
Why does it end itself? What happened? I just updated to 8.1. Since then the game doesn't work ☹️
Thanks in advance

I found the answer in the german speaking part of this forum 🙂
You just need to install Punkbuster manually. To do this, go to X:\Program Files (X86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 4\__Installer\punkbuster\redist\ . If you don't use a 64Bit Machine, it will be Program files (without X86). Install it as Administrator (right click, preferences, compatibility, admin). Then enable the Battlefield4.exe and Battlefield 4 64 bit both as administrator too - Then it works just fine 🙂
