Battlefield 4 on Playstation 3 - Playstation Plus subscription required?

Hi,

I have a PS3 and I am not planning to upgrade this year. However, I have pre-ordered Battlefield 4 and I am quite excited about it.

My question is on the Playstation Plus requirement. As per my current understanding, it is a requirement of PS4 owners to have it in order to play

Online Multiplayer (for all games actually, not just BF4).

Is it still a requirement for Battlefield 4 that will play on a PS3? Can I still play Battlefield 4 Online Multiplayer on my PS3 without having a Playstation Plus subscription?
