Sorry for replying to an old post, but this issue still happens, this was a thread high up in search results, and having suffered from the problem I eventually found a fix that worked for me. So here's a possible solution:
Here's the problem:
In Battlelog, all you get is a dash '-' where there should be pings against games
In BF4, where everyone else has a ping, you've just got a dash '-'
And... some servers kick you because you're not reporting a ping.
First: check if you've got the right problem:
- open a command prompt as administrator (google it)
- try "ping 127.0.0.1" (without the quotes)
- if nothing happens, you've got the same problem as me, and it can be fixed. Press Ctrl+C to cancel the ping request.
- if you get a series of "Reply from 127.0.0.1..." lines, this isn't your problem, sorry, I can't help you.
To fix the problem:
It's something to do with your TCP/IP setup, and this solved mine:
- open a command prompt as administrator
- do "netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt" (without the quotes)
- restart your computer
- try the "ping 127.0.0.1" again - and if that gets replies this time, it's fixed.
- if not - sorry, this didn't work for you.
A bit more info...
The solutions offered online include: reinstalling the whole game, punkbuster, origin client etc; forwarding ports, doing firewall things etc. For me, none of these worked. They probably did for some people.
However, the hint for me came when I realised that my browser (Chrome) was trying to contact http://127.0.0.1:3125 to get the ping numbers for Battlelog, and to do that it wanted the Origin client open. In other words - it had nothing to do with the game or punkbuster, but just the Origin client. I thought I might be able to ping the Origin client (silly me), but ended up on this page:
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-networking/ping-to-loopback-interface-fails-general-failure/103b7ebf-1072-e011-8dfc-68b599b31bf5?auth=1
... which had the solution.
