Battlefield 4 PS3 to PS4 upgrade Code Expired

I pre-ordered BF4 for PS3 and received a code to upgrade to the PS4 version for $9.99.  I somehow missed the expiration date and have just recently purchased a PS4.  Is there anyway to still use this...

    Sorry but there's nothing we can do. You had to do the upgrade before.

Bloody hell, just put a bigger hard drive into my ps4, I upgraded from the ps3 version, bought premium, bought a few gun packs, now it says unsupported disc.
Great. Nice one. Will have to trade it in for next to nothing, maybe get a keyring or something more useful
