Ahhh yep. Installed Windows 8.1 (mistakenly) and now I can't stay in a BF4 game either.
Okay. The same thing happened to me and this is what I did to fix it.
It has something to do with Punkbuster A and Windows 8.1 killing it.
First, uninstall Punkbuster using the uninstall a program in your control panel. Restart.
Next, go to http://www.punkbuster.com/index.php?page=pbsetup.php and download PBSetup. Once open, add Battlefield 4 as a game and it will update pb files.
Finally, you'll want to reinstall Punkbuster. To do so, locate the pbsvc.exe file in your battlefield directory. Mine was G: > Program Files (x86) > Origin Games > Battlefield 4 > _Installer > punkbuster > redist
After reinstalling punkbuster you should be good to go.
Hope this helps!

Alright my Battlefielders! This is what I had to do to get BF4 (ONLINE) to work! After upgrading to windows 8.1 everytime I joined a server it basically would allow me to deploy and run for two seconds then drop to my desktop. The following has fixed my issues.
1. Computer>E: (or whatever drive BF4 is on)> Origin>Battlefield4>_Installer>DirectX>redist>DirectX.exe (update)
2. Second thing Punk buster needs an update. Orgin games, Battlefield 4, then update pbscv by running the program
3. Open up Orgin appliaction on your desktop right click BF4 and go to repair install!
I really hope this works guys!
Thanks goes out to @LonoB
Hope this Helped fellas!
Happy Gaming!
