Battlefield 6 | A Key Feature for Battlefield’s Future
Dear Battlefield Team,
I am a longtime Battlefield fan, having spent countless hours on Battlefield 3 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2. Over the years, I’ve seen my favorite franchise lose some of its identity. However, the way you’ve presented Battlefield 6 in your teaser gives me renewed hope.
That said, I want to highlight an essential feature that has been missing for far too long: the server browser.
Why the Server Browser Matters
The server browser was a core feature in BFBC2, BF3, and BF4 but disappeared in later titles. Bringing it back would be a game-changer, allowing communities to host their own servers through third-party providers like Nitrado, Nitroserv, G-Portal, and 4netPlayer.
If you truly want to reconnect with the community, Battlefield Labs is a great step, but you need to go further. A server browser is the best way to encourage long-term player engagement and community-driven content.
Proven Success
Games like Squad and Arma continue to thrive because they empower their communities with customizable servers. Even Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4 still have active servers today thanks to this system.
A server browser isn’t just about nostalgia—it’s the best way to ensure that players can find servers with the right rules, settings, and ping that suit their playstyle.
Stay True to Battlefield’s Core
Battlefield is at its best when it embraces the classic modes that made the franchise great:
- Rush
- Squad Rush
- Team Deathmatch
- … and many more
Additionally, premium DLCs like in BF3 (€15-€20) with new maps, weapons, and vehicles would be far more appealing than today’s seasonal content model.
Focus on What Makes Battlefield Unique
You don’t need to follow every industry trend. Instead, double down on what makes Battlefield, Battlefield—just like Squad and Arma have stayed true to their core experience. These games are still going strong today because they respect their player base and give them the tools to keep the experience alive.
I truly believe that bringing back a server browser and community-hosted servers would be a major step toward restoring Battlefield’s legacy.
Thank you for your time, and I hope to see Battlefield return to its full potential.
Best regards,
