Battlefield VI Labs // Common medic problem

I saw the Labs movie too. And i have to remember about common medic problem in nowadays games.

Any developers today is creating `downed` state for the soldier, when his health become zero. Soldier falls dawn and see own animated body, awaiting medical help.

Realizing this state this way is multiplayer gameplay mistake.

Any soldier who get "killed" always appear on HUD for all medic players. Then you start to do some priorities like "own squad is prioritized", "hide icons at long distance" and that fixes, just because TOO MANY medical requests at the time.

Original idea `downed` state (was presented in Arma) is in that `killed` soldier loses consciousness, and falls down. He can give up if hold the key, or can wait. MAIN POINT here - the soldier ACCIDENTALLY or WITH INCREASING PROBABILITY can awake without medic! Thats why 30% of people prefer waiting. If Arma present feature that always mean "you die if no medic nearby" - only 10% of players will wait for the help.

Creating `downed` state in battlefield forces animate of useless corpse and appear useless icons in medic's HUD. In hot battle people prefer to hold "give up" immediately after they get a shot.

So correct behavior of this feature - "hold key to stay alive" or even "self heal", and only when holding key icon "soldier needs help" is arrive for medics. If soldier initially doesnt interact keyboard after being wounded - he dies without notification any medic and without "agreement with give up".

I agreed that in BF3 that feature was good for the times the game become market. When you die - in 3-5 seconds you appear to the inventory screen, but accidentally medic can heal you, and that breaks your mind "flow" and returns you back to the body. But actually it means - player `downed` only for 5 seconds. If he manually hold the key to stay alive - medics can help him, that clears the HUD.

But better if you create self heal feature, that works enough slowly (like 20 seconds animation). Any player then that was killed by accident/headshot from long distance can hold the key to get back to fight, and medics nearby can help to increase the healing process speed using their defibrilator or something.

Better because 50%+ players never press "hold to stay alive" (they will think like "nobody heals, why should i believe the magic?") - thats why i propose to create "self heal feature" - then most of the players try to survive alone, and medic can help exactly that players.

So the medic will heal only players who want to continue fight instead of try to heal players that just fall down and maybe already went to the coffee.
