Battlefiled 4 has Stopped Working
Ok, I know similar has been posted a few times before, but after doing what's been recommended by others I've been still completely unable to get BF4 working ☹️ This has been the case since I recently got my new computer/laptop only a week ago.
I know, I know I havent got an ideal gaming laptop as eventually I will get one mostly just for that. But this thing I've got for the time being should be at least capable of running BF4 on all low settings as it can run other stuff reasonably ok. Here are my full specs:-
Intel Core i7-4500U 64bit CPU 1.8GHz up to 3.00GHz turbo (2 cores, 4 theads for 4 virtual cores)
Windows 8.1 64-bit (fully updated)
12GB RAM
intel HD Graphics 4000 integrated / NVIDIA Geforce GT 735M with 2GB dedicated/discrete VRAM (drivers fully updated)
Nothing I've done so far appears to have had the slightest effect. What I've done (not necessarily in the numbered order shown):-
1. Repaired the game installation with Origins repair option (done this twice).
2. Installed, reinstalled PunkBuster (PBsetup) and updated to latest version.
3. Re installed Dirext X and installed latest Direct X web setup (installed some older versions from other game install procedures, but still no change).
4. dotNet 4.5 check; windows 8.1 reports it doesn't need as is already installed.
5. Visual C++ reinstall.
6. Ran 'sfc /scannow' in CMD prompt (command terminal) to check for and fix any system errors.
7. Ensured that NVIDIA is forced 'on' to be used by game so that intel HD graphics 4000 is not being used instead. NVIDIA adapter is fully updated!
8. Disabled Firewall completely (to see if this was the cause.
9. Tweaked and changed every setting in the NVIDEA 'Manage 3d settings' to the point that almost every feature was set to either an 'Off/Disable' or a 'Low' setting if the former was not available.
10. Updated to the latest Adobe FlashPlayer (just in case)
11. Reinstalled the Battlelog web browser plugin (latest version of course, it wont attempt to fire-up without latest one anyhow).
12. I'm sure I've done other stuff too like rename the PROFSAVE_profile file within settings, but can't remember the rest. Nothing worked though.
However here's a possible clue - if I force 'ON' the intel HD 4000 graphics only (and thus the NVIDIA Geforce GT735M is disabled), then suddenly BF4 fires up and loads ok, albeit at a hugely unplayable & unusably low frame rate which is to be expected for the wee intel HD4000 chip. So the problem is in relation to the NVIDEA GT735M, yet it has the latest drivers which is confusing.
Very frustrating... Grrr!
