BF2142 how to downgrade patch from 1.5 to 1.4

How do you down grade your patch from 1.5 to 1.4?

I used the uninstall short cut

followed the manual uninstall instructions to remove the game posted on the support.ea.com - including going into the regedit.

When I re-installed the game and tried to install the 1.4 patch, it closed saying that a newer version was already installed??

I want to go back to v1.4 because there are more servers running this patch - I only get 2-3 with v1.5 - When I click on the servers listed (as red) they all say that they are running on an older version, so I don't want to go to v1.51

Any suggestions?

I don't want to lose my on line soldier as I have all the unlocks.

    On a PC, I guess?

    1° uninstall your game

2° do NOT go to regedit. NEVER. Unless you are an experimented Winsh*t Guru

3° purchase Registry Mechanics (http://www.pctools.com/registry-mechanic/) 29,99 € sorry for that

4° run regmech, this will remove in the registry ALL data from an already uninstalled program

    5° reboot

6° delete the Origin Games folder in the Program Files directory (do NOT delete the Origin folder or you'll have to reinstall Origin)

7° reinstall the game, should do it.

  • Unless you start deleting things randomly in regedit not much can go wrong if you follow proper instructions. Just a basic windows knowledge will do.

Your stats are saved online. So no need to worry about that.

I do not own BF2142 so I can only help so much. How do you install the game, with a cd or trough Origin? Origin might already install the latest version of the game.

Uninstalling the game and running a registry cleaner is always a safe way. Instead of buying a overpriced product http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/ should work just fine.

Otherwise the registry might again be a solution, but because I do not own the game I cannot give a precise discription:

    https://help.ea.com/article/Manual-Uninstallation-Instructions-for-Battlefield-2142

If you follow these instructions and reach step 10, instead of deleting the folder look on the right side. See if you see a key with the name of something like 'version' with the value of 1.5. If you see that and change it to 1.0 the patch might install properly.
