Well, Wemadetoast, then you never played BF2 or any games made around the time. Those games were buggy as **bleep**, we just didn't have the standards we do now.
Battlefield 3 deals with enormous loads on server and hardware due to graphics, physics, and animations. Counterstrike deals with nothing, because its all hostside, lazy animation, and stiff gameplay that needs nothing to regulate. It's also why its so hackable. You're comparing a 12 year old cookie-cutter shooter that is only alive due to a ridiculous fanbase and nostalgia to a game that has thousands of players on at a time, up to 64 per, and universal physics in a newer engine.

Also, BF3 has run smoothly for me up until now.
