BF3 Gun Sound Problems

Recently I have had a problem in BF3 where the guns sounds etc don't sound as bassy as they should from a distance, its like half the audio used for the gun sounds is only present and it makes it hard to tell where im being shot from etc, i have messed around with the audio settings to no avail. I have also noticed that when i look at gunfire, it seems to sound bassy and like it should but as i turn away, the sound gets really weak and quiet. This has happened before and it was solved with a simple validation of the files, but the time, the problem persists regardless and its really bugging me, I hope someone can help me
