BF4 key binding issues w/ps3 controller

Okay, before you all tell me to get an xbox controller, I've been using my PS3 controller for years on B3 with no issues.

My problem from my tests is in the jet and heli, when I hold down the left back trigger (decelerate), I can no longer use the joysticks to pitch up/down, BUT I CAN still yaw left and right... Also, when I unbind the back triggers and rebind them it always says that the key is in use, even when I unbind ALL keys using the triggers. Does anyone have any idea what is happening?

    Trigger 2 setting seems bugged
  • Trigger 1 is the problem, apparently DICE had the bright idea to hard code keys with no way to change them

You are right, its trigger 1. Strange that they did it this way.

I also have the same issue. I am using the Xbox 360 controller on my PC. I am trying to remap buttons for jets and heli same as BF3 but when i remove all Left trigger binding and rebind throttle down i get the msg that its still in use. Then when i slow down in the game i can't control my pitch, roll. Please fix this ASAP Dice/EA,  i cant have much fun without my buttons binded correctly.

  • I know exactly what you're all going through. I found a hack fix:

    http://battlefield.realmware.co.uk/bf4-settings-editor/downloads

That editor will clearly show you that there is a conflict between the decelerate trigger and freelook. You can clear the binding from there. Things seem to work fine in third person, but if you switch to first person and press decelerate, then move the right analog stick, it treats it as free look--which is pretty annoying. You can disable the free look analog stick bindings, but it doesn't completely fix the problem. Pressing decelerate, will render the right analog stick useless in first person. You can still use the left analog stick to yaw. Clearly, there is still a bug somewhere in their source code. Anyone have any ideas how to let DICE or EA know?

If you're using the ps3 controller, you must be using Scarlett.Crush's Xinput Wrapper, right? Did he update his drivers or anything?

After some more research, I found this:

    http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/showthread.php?p=3005768

It looks like v1.1 has a fix built in for this whole freelook fiasco! I haven't tried it yet. I'm going to copy and paste this into the other thread (http://answers.ea.com/t5/Battlefield-4/BF4-Xbox-Controller-Phantom-Binds/m-p/1752081/highlight/false#M26609). Everyone needs to know about this!

edit: I just tried it. This fixes it! spread the word please!

@entropywave so glad i found this thread and your post, fixed for me thanks!

  • BF4 settings editor helped with the freelook problem in the jet(but that may be because DICE fixed something) but the holding decelerate on the xbox controller (left trigger) causes the right joystick to not work in first person. It's a well known issue. Also causes freelook in the heli. Nothing I do fixes it.
