BF4 key-press crash - INSERT

I had "throw grenade" and "deploy countermeasures" bound to the INSERT key (210).

Whenever I pressed INSERT the game would crash.

I've since moved those functions to different keys, and out of habit, still press INSERT. The game crashes.

I've checked to see that nothing is bound to INSERT in the Profsave, yet the game still crashes when I press INSERT.

12G

R9 280X

Mantle

Win 7 64

AMD 14.4 drivers (tried 14.2, 14.3 same issue)

Dual monitors (not eyefinity)

All setting on low (or off) except mesh quality, texture quality, texture filtering, which are on high.

Does not happen when using DirectX 11.1. (poor framerate prevents me from wanting to use it)

I've gone so far as to delete the Profsave, rebind all keys, and it still happens.

Seems to have started happening after the March 6th patch.

    Thanks for letting us know, that is indeed a weird issue. But it is only happening with the INSERT key, every other key is fine?

    Since you mentioned it, the new keys that I bound "throw grenade" and "deploy countermeasures" also crash the game.

    (Backspace and Home, respectively)

    I can only assume that once you bind a function to a key, that 'hook-up' is put into another file, where it is somehow getting corrupted (remembered).

    Early on there were problems with binding things to INSERT and DELETE keys, perhaps there are residual issues with the way it was fixed.

    Within the game engine, maybe somebody left some development/debug code in there that made use of those keys, and never removed it with the Mantle implementation.  

    All I know is that when I press INSERT, it crashes every time.

    Edit - I can connect to empty servers and throw grenades and deploy countermeasures early on in a round without the game crashing.

    (making me think that I fixed it when I make a change to something)

    It is when I am in populated servers that the game crashes after having been in the game for a period of time.

    Could you please check your Battlefield 4 folder for the config.sys file and delete it? This will reset your whole ingame setup and hopefully fix your issue.

    Listen I have the same exact problem as the OP.  However the key that causes my game to completely crash CTD is DELETE!!!  Please fix it.  I too have remapped but sometimes out of habit I will hit that dam DELETE key and BOOM crash goodbye rad score and fun game.

    everything is updated and I'm running the 14.4 drivers.

    crash has nothing to do with mantle or video settings but everything to do with some legacy coding in the game.

    there is no config.sys file !  that's not the problem

    exactly what I have experienced.  no problem in the TEST range but as soon as I go MP server and hit DELETE!!!!!! CTD EVERY STINKING TIME

    NEWS FLASH=====> not all of us play WASD keys.
