Found this on another thread about the same issue during alpha, an EA rep pointed to this link.
Dowloaded the x64 bit 2010 version and game now works for me.

I'm having the same issue, and when I tried installing the C++ it tells me that a newer version is already installed.

Why should we even have to download extra stuff in order to play a game.....When you buy a game you expect it to work and come with everything it needs, and if it needs something more it should tell you, not create problems and leave the users on their own little treasure/bug hunt fixes.

Because that's how games work...
You're basically asking "Why do we need an operating system to run programs?".
Games are dependent on certain libraries, for example DirectX 9; without it, it won't run.
The same way programs require an operating system with certain stuff in them.
TLDR: Good luck running BF4 on MS DOS.

You need to use the installer in your BF4 directory. Dont get the one from the microsoft site linked, it's not up-to-date.
FYI, i was getting crashes every game, with the odd game finishing. So far this has worked well for me.
Go through to where you installed battlfield (either in origin games or your own custom location)
Then go through the following folders
Battlefield 4
__Installer
vc
vc2012Update3
redist
Then double click on the vcredist_x86.exe and follow the prompts.
