BF4 PS3 no one can connect to my rented server

I recently rented a server on BF4 ps3 for me and some friends to play the game before the shut down, however no one can connect to it, and everyone gets the same "failed to connect to the game server, please try again" error message. We can connect to other active servers however mine is impossible to touch.

It is also a hit and miss situation on if the "rent a server" menu option is available to give me access to editing the server itself.

There is also a strange text pop up that shows up when I first enter the "rent a server" menu when I can see my rented server in the menu below the server images that says "[Not started] *server name*". It's only there for a second. I don't understand what this means, however I've definitely purchased the server, money is gone from my PSN wallet and I'm able to edit the server settings when the option to do so is available.

How on earth can I fix this? EA.help keeps sending me here, and previous posts on this forum sends me to EA.help.

  • Hello @dooms4u,

On Wednesday, July 31st the following titles will be removed from digital storefronts and you will no longer be able to purchase them and all extra related content such as DLC.

    • Battlefield 3 (Xbox 360 & PlayStation 3)

    • Battlefield 4 (Xbox 360 & PlayStation 3)

    • Battlefield: Hardline (Xbox 360 & PlayStation 3)

Online services for these titles on these platforms will end on November 7th, 2024. While the online components of these titles close for these platforms, if you own the game, you will still be able to play the single-player component.

Please note: Battlefield 3 will still be available for play on PC. Battlefield 4, and Battlefield: Hardline will still be available for play on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. The announcement today does not affect these titles and platforms.

If you'd like to learn more about the sunsetting process you can refer to the FAQ here, or check out our delisting page here.

If you have any questions about these titles on older platforms head on over to EA Help.

I can just say that only EA support can assist you with the renting issue. The post above is an official EA statement, just so you are aware of the current situation.

    Thank you for your understanding!

    Best regards,

  • I am well aware of the shutdown. I rented my server starting 25/9/2024. Only a few days ago. It expires on 25/10/24. No one can access it even when they see it, search for it, given admin permissions, or favourite it. Not a single person, I cannot join it, and none of my friends.

Telling me that the game is going to shut down isn't going to solve my issue. That's why I'm playing it to begin with, to enjoy it before the shut down.
