I had this exact problem.
Try checking to see if your Origin account is online. Open Origin and check your profile picture at the top right hand of the window. If it is not in color and is black and white then you are offline. Sign in online and try again.
This process worked for me and I hope it works for you!

I'm currently online and have this same problem. Frustrating not being able to play the game. Just ran whatever update came out today for what it's worth.
