Black screen error

I've been having a recurring bug with BF1 and I haven't found any reference to it anywhere online. While playing, my screen will suddenly and randomly black out for a few seconds and all sound will stop. I can still control the game, just can't see or hear anything. When the game comes back, there are a few seconds before when the sound is still dead.

Normally this just happens at random times, but it also happens any time there is any kind of screen effect. So gas mask, getting into a vehicle, looking down a scope etc. As you can imagine, this makes playing the damn game a challenge.

I've reinstalled BF1 twice now, including deleting the folder after uninstalling, still happens. Has anyone ever had this bug before?

I'm playing on Steam, if that makes any difference.

Cheers in advance

  • @Brandenburg79 did you try to repair the game yet?

Just btw, not sure if that can be a case but as you said it randomly happens for a few seconds i'm just thinking of maybe the cable (like HDMI) that transfers the video/audio to the monitor is kinda loose and therefore breaks up here and there? 😳

    @Its_Travis_199 Thanks for the reply
Yeah, I had initially thought it could be a hardware issue, but this only happens on BF1, not 4 or V. I checked my cables just in case, but they're all in solid. I tried verifying the game on Steam the first time it happened, but no change.

    Cheers

@Brandenburg79 is your steam and Origin connected?

Try to run the game via Origin, also make sure you run BF1 and Origin as Administrator.

    See if that changes anything.

@Its_Travis_199 Tried running as Admin, but then the game refused to open. But Steam and Origin work fine for my other games and even BF1 was working normally until recently. IS there a tech support line I can submit a ticket to? I know EA is notoriously bad at customer service, but I live in hope...

    Thanks

You can try to contact a EA Advisor from the support via the following link.

Open a new case with all necessary steps, and then you can even choose "live chat" as contact option. To directly communicate with an Advisor via text chat.

    Here: https://help.ea.com/en/contact-us/

  • Unfortunately need to revive this.

Same problem, even after resetting my PC to factory settings and starting fresh. Bonus, it's even worse! Now it happens every time I go indoors too.

I have trawled the internet for anything remotely like this and asked in many places for advice. Ultimately it comes down to asking EA support, who advise me to go to forums, who tell me to go to a support, who tell me to.... Yeah.

  • probably a driver issue. try reinstalling your graphics drivers and don't over-overclock your GPU
