Cannot reach main menu after applying latest PS3 patch

I just downloaded the new 2/21/2014 BattleField 4 patch for PS3. I can hit the Start Menu to start the game, but the main menu will not display. I am stuck with a loading icon in the upper-right that...

    Fix found. Unplug both PS3 controllers if you have more than 1 plugged in. Make sure you only turn on 1 controller, make sure it is listed as #1. Enters Multiplayer fine.

After deleting all game data, all saves, deleting the game. I re-downloaded from PS3 store. Re-applied the 1.08 patch. Same problem. It looks like the 1.08 patch really wiped me out - it just doesn't work on my console.

All my other games work great. Getting desperate...
