Can't Launch BF3 It says I need a new graphics card.

I am on a Windows 7 Home Premium (Laptop). When I launch BF3 using the Origin Launcher I get a message saying 'Failed creatingD3D device of at least version 10.0 on adapter "Intel(R) HD Graphics" with driver "Unknown". Error is DXGI_ERROR_UNSUPPORTED ("Unsupported")

This is typically caused by not having the minimum required DirectX support in the GPU.

For NVIDIA GPUs, DirectX 10.0 support is required.

For AMD and GPUs from other vendors, DirectX 10.1 support is required.'

HELP???? What do I need to do? If I need to buy something, I dont want to. Is there a way I can get a refund/Transfer to Xbox???

  • Hi there!

Update with the latest drivers and it will work again. Please report back here if not and you will get further help.

Also, here is the recommended specs for Battlefield 3 [PC]:

    Battlefield 3 System Requirements

Battlefield 3 is powered by the Frostbite 2.0 engine, which is based on the previous Frostbite 1.5, which powered Bad Company 2. The new engine brings a lot of visual improvements and a lot of optimizations as well. However, please note that Battlefield 3 won’t support DirecX 9, meaning it won’t run on Windows XP.

    Minimum requirements for Battlefield 3

OS: Windows Vista or Windows 7

Processor: Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz or Althon X2 2.7 GHz

    RAM: 2GB

Graphic Card: DirectX 10 or 11 compatible Nvidia or AMD ATI card, ATI Radeon 3870 or higher, Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT or higher.

    Graphics Card Memory: 512 MB

Sound Card: DirectX compatibl sound card

Hard Drive: 15 GB for disc version or 10 GB for digital version

Recommended system requirements for Battlefield 3

    OS: Windows 7 64-bit

Processor: Quad-core Intel or AMD CPU

    RAM: 4GB

Graphics Card: DirectX 11 Nvidia or AMD ATI card, Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 or ATI Radeon 6950.

    Graphics Card Memory: 1 GB

Sound Card: DirectX compatibl sound card

Hard Drive: 15 GB for disc version or 10 GB for digital version

Problem 1: Battle Field 3 Windows Compatibility

Solution: Battlefield 3 will be compatible with Windows 7 or Vista, as they're only using DirectX10 and 11 (sadly, no Windows XP support).

*For Offline or Single Player User

    - Sincerely, Timmie.
