Can't play online
Game loads up just fine and i can play the campaign with no issues at all but when i try to play online it will go through the matchmaking and when it finds a match it will load for 2 secs then freezes and a pop-up comes up saying bf1 has stopped working and closes.

Since you are able to play single player i would exclude a hardware/drivers related problem.
Start by repairing the game through origin client. (right click on the battlefield 1 icon)
