Carrying over dogtags cross platfrom

I am well aware that it isnt possible to take soldiers cross platform, which makes sense because the consoles and pcs differ a bit. But I was wondering about dogtags. They dont really make a difference to the core game, and I had some really nice ones I don't want to lose that you cannot unlock normally. Is it possible at all? Anyone I can ask about this?

  • Agreed, the dog tags really mean very little (actually nothing) with regards to your soldier weapons access, grading etc.  All except the special situation where you want to qualify as full fletched Phantom in the Phantom program, where you need to find the final stand dog tags on the maps.  But that is also highlighting a bit the issue, as the dog tags as actually also your soldier level illustrate to other players what you have achieved with your soldier on that very same game platform.  Reason why dog tags and other stuff is not transferred from your soldier on one platform to a soldier you may also play on another platform.   One could also argue, why should that be possible, as it is maybe easier to do precise longrange sniping on the PC platform versus on the PS4 platform, so is it fair that you could gain the Recon dogtags on the PC and bring them with you to the PS4 platform, where you now play with many players that do not have access to the PC platform?   In any case, think it is good that this is kept separate and simple.  All you gather and rank up on your solder has to be earned on that same platform!

And lets then agree to keep the exceptional discussion separate regarding the Battlefield Veteran Knife and the 3x scope for the Magnum.

I miss also those myself, and will never be able to get them for BF4, but that is just how it is. ;o)

As a multiplatform Battlefield player I sincerely hope that in the future DICE implements a system where my linked accounts on Xbox and Playstation and PC all use a single soldier instead of several platform specific soldiers. It'd be awesome not to have 3-5 separate soldiers any longer at varying levels of progress, and I'd be more motivated to actually accomplish medals and assignments if I didn't have to do them three times each.

I know people will scream "game sharing" as the reason that this isn't implemented, however if players use this option EA can mandate that they use two factor authentication every time that they sign into their account on any platform, and then also do like Origin does on PC by signing out any other logged in accounts when one signs into one of the linked platforms with two factor authentication.

Naturally one would still have to purchase the base game and DLC separately for each of the platforms in order to play it on that platform, we'd just share progress with the Master Origin account. EA also benefits since people would be more willing to purchase additional copy of Battlefield titles on other platforms to play with their friends.
