CD-key verification
Hi, I have a spare battlefield 3 key from humble origin bundle that I wanted to give to a fried for his birthday, but I wanted to be sure it will work, is there any way to verify it?

if you havent used it, it will work
the only way to verify it is to use it
So there is no way make sure that the key is valid before I give it to him? It would be disappointing to give him a gift he wont be able to register.
If I try to activate the key on my account (that already have the game) wont I get a message saying what game it is and that I already have it or that the CD key have already been used?
Asking because that is what happens when you do this on steam.
