Crazy ping/latency spikes

Any time I join any server in Battlefield 4 since Saturday, Nov. 2nd, my ping goes crazy high as soon as I join, spiking to well above 999 ms, and rendering the game utterly unplayable for the first few minutes of any match I join. If I alt-tab out of the game, my ping will spike to 600+ ms upon returning to the game assets. In all other online games, my ping will fluctuate from about 50-70 ms  (in Team Fortress 2 and CS: GO), 80-100 ms  (in Shogun 2 and Company of Heroes) to the 170-200 range (in Red Orchestra 2/Rising Storm Multiplayer). Why would this be happening in Battlefield only? This is totally unacceptable for a $60 purchase

Edit: this also seems to be an issue with ALL EA online games I've tried. I get constant server time outs from Battlefield 3, and I can't get into a game in Bad Company 2.

  • Hey There. I have a problem with my connection to the game. This has been accruing both on Battlefield 3 and 4 and it has not gone away.

I have a pc that is up to date, and can run the game smoothly and it is not a low FPS.

I have a connection that is running minimum 65/30mbit. (65 up and 30 down)

    My ports have been forwarded.

The problem is that my latency keeps hitting 999 from time to time.  I play with a couple of friends and nothing seems wrong. I’m not lagging or jumping from point to point, and everything seems normal for me to.

The problem is that my ping is fine most of the time, but then for no reason just hit 999 for about 10 seconds and then back to about 20. And then 3 minutes later it hits 999 for 10 seconds again, and over and over. This gets me kick form 50% of all the servers. The remaining 50% has terrible lag for most of the players but I’m stable at 20.

I have tried just a lot of different of the fix’s that people offer, but nothing works, and last week I reinstalled my pc, to see if the problem would go away, but it is still there, and it make the game unplayable.

Hope you guys can figure out why this keeps happening.

Same problem here, ping spikes from 9-11 to 300,600 and even 800 sometimes. Issue is only in EA games. Don't know why I bother buying their games anymore
