Direct X Function error Solutions/Compilation:

Alright since everyone seems to be having this issue "DirectX Function: blablabla" error. I'll  try to compile all the answers that I've seen posted by various other people or from researching on my own. There are a lot of different Direct X errors so these solutions may or may not work for you.

Solution 1:

If you are in a region that speaks/uses a language other than English then try the following:

Go to: Control Panel >> Regions and Language >> Administrative Tab >> Change System Locale >> Set to English (United States) >> Restart Computer

Solution 2:

If you are having DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_RESET pop up. Open up the Origin Application and do the following:

Click Origin Menu >> Application Settings >> Origin In Game >> Disable (un-check) Origin In Game >> Exit Origin (may or may not need to restart computer afterwards.)

Solution 3:

Don't think this one personally does anything to help but some people think it works:

Update to latest Driver  >> Open/run Command Prompt as System Administrator >> Type bcdedit /set increaseuserva 2500

Solution 4:

Go to Battlefield 4 Folder (default is "C:/Program Files/Origin/Games/Battlefield 4") >> __Installer  >> VC >> vc2012Update3 >> redist >> install/repair vcredist_x64.exe and vcredist_x86.exe

(An optional thing you can do is update/reinstall Direct X under the folder Battlefield 4\__Installer\directx\redist)

Solution 5:

A few other things that might cause a Direct X Function error is the Resolution you set Battlefield on to might be wrong or if you set the Graphics quality way to high for your graphics card causing the Graphics Drivers to crash. If you can't get back inside the game to change some of your settings do the following: Go to My Documents >> Battlefield 4 >> Settings >> delete/edit PROFSAVE_profile (edit with notepad/wordpad if you know how)

My error was fixed with Solution 2 after tinkering around and trying multiple things for a day and a half. I'll add more as I remember them. Feel free to suggest other solutions that worked for you and I'll add it to the list. Good luck and I hope some of these helped you.

  • Dude, you should get a free lifetime subscription for BF licenses!

I spent 3 weeks and $400 in upgrades to try to fix a sudden flurry of DirectX crash freeze error problems after the January 14 patch release.  It even happened when I was the Commander.  I couldn't play, and none of the normal troubleshooting techniques helped.  Nothing worked until I saw your post.

Now that I've fixed the problem with Option Number 2, I seem to recall turning Origin In Game off because I don't use it.  After, a few small Origin windows would pop up under my frozen game screen on occasion, and I never correlated the two because I thought it was the game causing the crash, not Origin.

Unbelieveable man, simply genius post.  Thank you.

I tried everything that this had said. It turns out, I uninstall ET6, and it started working again. I'm not sure if this is just a gigabyte thing, but it definitely solved my problem. Other option may be to reset and BIOS options that you might have made.

  • yeah I think we all suffer from a lot of errors, none of which aren't even remotely close to what origin give us.

all my errors are of my own mistakes thru-out my entire lifetime one of my most impressive errors was being born into this * world and being baited into handing out links to known cures to any and all diseases no one knows about.

but whatever, I'm not here to fix stupid, just entertain a notion of the theories behind anything stupidly related to the word

I'm getting the same or close to the same error while attempting to install Battlefield 4, off a 3 part install disc.

The basic core install is now giving me an profuse headache but being and having that Stupid never quit syndrome not like a mental health illness or maybe it is who knows.

Like someone on a server I used to play on told me, he wasn't there to fix stupid, well Breaking News Flash: either am I.

Would be nice if Directx would install correctly without handing out these stupid errors but that would be asking way too much out of good ol Microshaft Winblows 'Any-version'
