I am getting the same issue.
Workaround for me was to edit the PROFSAVE_profile file in settings (under my documents) and set the following settings
GstRender.FullscreenEnabled 0
GstRender.FullscreenMode 1
Runs OK in windowed mode. Crashes with this error as soon as I go fullscreen.
Was the same with BF3.
Hopefully this will help someone here be able to play the game, though limited to windowed mode. ☹️

everyone. try setting your refresh rate to 50.
refresh rate to 50 in fullscreen or in windowed?
I can't even get into the game to adjust ANYTHING let alone REFRESH RATE..................crashes as soon as the Server Title Page comes on...........
If you download the settings editor http://battlefield.realmware.co.uk/settings-editor/ like I stated you can do all your settings from out of the game.
