Ok so it seems the game is working now after multiple different troubleshooting measures. I will update as I have more time to test. So here is what I did. I noticed I had some updates for windows in between my trouble shooting so decided to apply them. I also had 5 optional updates. I took a look at the list and one of the updates was:
"nVidia Graphics Adapter WDDM1.1, Graphics Adapter WDDM1.2, Graphics Adapter WDDM1.3, Other hardware software update released in October, 2013"
I thought "what the hell" and downloaded the update, restarted, blah blah blah. Well I also saw on this forum to change the refresh down to 50. So I went in, turned my refresh down and started to play, thinking I would get the obligatory DEVICE_HUNG error. I played maybe three or four full rounds and nothing. No error, no freeze, nothing. Then I realized I violated a rule of troubleshooting and made more than one change at once. So I went and changed my refresh back to 60 and played a few more rounds, about 2 and a half. The only issue I had now was disconnecting from the server once, then I had punkbuster kick me for some communication with the .exe file. Well I'm out of time to play so I can't test further but I will later on and update as needed. I wish someone else would try this and see what they find.
Just check your windows update and see if you have the NVidia update available, see if that helps. If not try using the BF Settings Editor to turn your refresh rate down to 50 as previous posters have suggested. http://battlefield.realmware.co.uk/settings-editor/
Also something of note I have all my DirectX functions disabled via the settings editor and will turn them back on one by one when I have more time to test. I was still getting the error with them off so I don't think that is the issue. We will see. More to follow and good luck. I really don't wanna have to trash this game for CoD, but if this can't be fixed I probably will.
UPDATE: The NVIDIA Drivers from windows update wasn't the issue. Got a random Device_Hung Error with it set like that. Switched back to a refresh of 50 and no errors so far. Will keep playing until I'm satisfied that I've got it fixed then post all my settings and what I did to fix it in a later post. ITS A LOT!! Good luck. Just remember, CoD comes out next week.
By the way the above fix provided by EA did not help. Game crashed another 10 minutes into an obliteration game.
