Try this until EA fixes their game.
From what I can tell, when my GPU memory use reaches approx 1600 megabytes of VRAM use I get this error.
DirectX function "GetDeviceRemovedReason"
The game on High and even Ultra runs very smooth until the crash.
Lowering the settings to medium and/or playing in x86 mode (Low Settings) seems to have fixed the problem.
In x64 mode I have been able to get the settings up to medium without crashing.
Hope this helps.
Note: All the the Directx supposed fixes that people post haven't worked for me.
I5 3570k
Radeon 7870
8gb Memory
750w Corsair PSU
I found out that you can play on fullscreen mode, in 50hz on 331.40 beta drivers 🙂

Guys could you please check following workarounds. Please let us know if one of the links helped you to solve this issue and say thanks by spending some XP for the guys.
DirectX function "getDeviceRemovedReason" failed with "DxGi_error_Device_Hung"- SP only, caused by videocard overclock (e.g. GTX460)

1600 megabytes of VRAM use I get this error: DirectX function "GetDeviceRemovedReason" - lowering from high/ultra to medium in x64 or low in x86 fixes the issue. DirectX updates/fixes mentioned do not help at all.

Once the game reaches 1.8-1.9GB of vram, it freezes and crashes....

The game has some type of VRAM leak. Look at your VRAM usage. It will spike if your settings are too high. Instead of dropping the frame rate like other games, it crashes instead. Poorly coded games cause DirectX errors like this.

1. A WORKAROUND ISN"T A FIX!!!!! FIX THE DAMN GAME. These are just random ideas that don't work. Why should I have to lower my game settings when my hardware is good enough to play it at ultra. This is a poor game design.
2. I am surprised there isn't a lawsuit against EA for this crap. I have talked to 5 EA "advisers" that all give me these stupid workaround ideas. This error is prevalent among many users. I doubt that that many peoples computers have issues.
3. Quit treating us like we are ignorant by posting links to other forums. If we are on a forum we probably searched for answers beforehand.
4. POST A SOLUTION NOT A BULL**** WORKAROUND
5.Here is just some of what I have tried so far that doesn't work.
1. Lowered core clock and core volatage
2. Set AFFINITY to first two CPU processors
3. Clean boot
4. 50mghz refresh rate playing in windowed mode
5. updated all drivers
6. Uninstalling, sweeping, and reinstalling several GeForce drivers, from betas to officials
7. Disabled origin in-game
8. Tried playing on lowest graphics settings
9. Reinstalling BF4
10. Disabling cloud storage for BF4 in origin
11. reinstalling directx
12. and others I am not taking the time to think of
- Anonymous12 years agoThis dude has pretty much said it in a nut shell. I've spent more time troubleshooting than I have playing. Still no fix. Only "work arounds" I have, or others have found. EA you need to seriously address this. Make a statement, say something so we know you have at least considered fixing the problem. Oh, wait you probably can't type because your fingers are so tired from counting all your un-happy customer's money. Great business you are running there. I've said it in previous posts, CoD is just a few more days away, Go Activision.
