To anyone getting this error, I have a fix that has worked for me without any problems. This applies to BF3 and BF4.
I found that the Origin In-game overlay is the cause of the DirectX error. I even told an EA tech over the phone months ago that this is the problem.
Steps to disable Origin in game for BF3 and BF4:
1. Open the Origin client to "My games"
2. Right click on BF3 or BF4 and click "Game properties..."
3. Check the checkbox for "Disable Origin in Game for this game"
4. Click apply, and then try to start up BF3/BF4
5. The problem should be fixed and you can now play BF3 and BF4 without this problem affecting you anymore!
This is on a PC with a Nvidia Geforce 660 ti.
Hope this helped you!
Disabling Origin overlay worked great. Thanks for the heads up. 😕mileyvery-happy:
