DirectX function GetDeviceRemovedReason failed with dxgi_error_device_hung

I get the same error, but with an AMD Radeon 6850. Constantly.

This is highly frustrating, and all of the tips I've seen online don't work (Windows 8.1):

* Latest Beta video card drivers

* Running in x86 instead of x64

* Removing DirectX cabs and repairing install

* Underclocking card

* Lowering video quality/turning off AA/AO

* Crazy, obscure user.cfg commands

* Disabling Origin in-game
