The funny thing is ..I played BF4 without any Major Error with my old equipment a i5-750 8GB RAM and a XFX ATI 5870.
Then i decided to upgrade my Computer I5-4670K 16GB RAM and a ASUS AMD R9-280X and a new Motherboard now i get the directX error every time i play BF4 ...and only BF4 ...Farcry 3 runs just fine...
So new Hardware and BF4 ...not a good idea😕mileysad:
I know the poor people from the EA Helpline will never admit that the Game is actually causing the problem. But why are all other games running?
Please EA admit that this is a issue and your guys are working on a solution...no need for a hurry. I would be glad if i knew i just have to wait a little longer before BF4 is playable again.

There may be something to this! I was running the game fine with my I7 2.2ghz 8gb ram, AMD 7690m xt and windows 7 64 bit, but then I did two things. I upgraded to 16gb if ran abd then upgraged to windows 8.1. Now I get the direct x error every time I play and I have done EVERYTHING to try and fix it. Everything I've tried:
- Reinstalled Direct X
- Reinstalled punkbuster
- Unparked CPU trick
- Uninstalled everything single non-essential piece of software
- Upgraded and tweaked audio drivers
- Upgraded & Downgraded AMD drivers
- Reinstalled BF4
- Run in both windows 7 & windows 8 compatiblity mode
- Run as administrator
- Disable Origin in game
Nothing at all has worked. This has to be either Battlefield 4 issue, or a Microsoft Direct X issue, and getting these two companies to work together on an issue like this is simply not going to happen, but we'll have to see what future patches bring, but I'm not confident.

I had the directx crash the whole time on Windows 8.1. This week I tried Battlefield on Windows 7 and Windows 8 but i had the exact same error.
Is there a way to start and play B4 not in Directx 11 mode, but instead with Directx 10? I can't find a way to do this.

Yes, you can download the BF4 Settings Editor from the following website. You can disable DirectX 11 & 11.1:
I did try this to fix the issue as well, but it did not work for me, but I hope you have better luck.

just an idea... u upgraded your equipment, did u also upgrade your psu? the r9 280x consumes alot of power; a 600W is recommended by AMD afaik. i heard 700-750 is perfekt. just a guess...

Funny thing since, I also have upgraded my computer. When I had Intel Core i7 950 at standard clockrate I could play normally and my GPU never reached usage above 85% in BF4. Probably because CPU was too slow for GPU. I mean GPU couldn't reach it's full potential probably. I had DX error only in the beta when my GPU reached above 90% because of the bugs in the code, I guess. But after they patched it, everything was fine. After I've changed my CPU into Core i5 4670K, my GPU is always reaching over 95% of usage while playing. Whether I play on low settings or high and even force through the config file my framerates down to even 40, my GPU is still used in 95% or more. I've checked it by using MSI Afterburner. Logs show that every other hardware was fine. CPU temp, CPU usage for all core is not getting above over 80%, GPU temp, GPU fan speed. Only GPU usage isn't normal. It shouldn't get so high because the game is on low settings and with forcing low fps, it doesn't require so much power from the GPU, I think. It happens in all new games that are using DX 11.1 probably. Why? Because I saw on the CoD forums while I was googling the solution for this problem, that CoD players are having the same problem. So it seems that it might be problem with DX 11.1 libraries?
