I fixed it! I found these instructions for the sound loop error, but it worked for the direct x error. I had this error every single time I played, but now was able to play all night. I'm not sure exactly what this does, but at least I have it working for now. Give it a try, and if it still doesn't work you can always just delete the user.cfg file.
Create a user.cfg and place in BF4 directory and copy paste the text below.
RenderDevice.Dx11Enable 1
RenderDevice.Dx11Dot1Enable 1
RenderDevice.Dx11Dot1RuntimeEnable 1
RenderDevice.TripleBufferingEnable 0
WorldRender.TransparencyShadowmapsEnable 0
WorldRender.MotionBlurEnable 0
WorldRender.MotionBlurForceOn 0
WorldRender.MotionBlurFixedShutterTime 0
WorldRender.MotionBlurMax 0
WorldRender.MotionBlurQuality 0
WorldRender.MotionBlurMaxSampleCount 0
WorldRender.SpotLightShadowmapEnable 0
WorldRender.SpotLightShadowmapResolution 256
WorldRender.LightTileCsPathEnable 0
RenderDevice.ForceRenderAheadLimit 0
PostProcess.DynamicAOEnable 0
My specs:
HP DV6 Quad Laptop
Core I7 2.3ghz
16gb ram
Windows 8.1
AMD Radeon 7690m XT video card
IDT onboard audio
gauntlet0 - You rock! This fixed the DirectX error for me as well. I wasn't able to load any part of the game at all since launch until I created the user.cfg and added those settings tonight. Thanks!
