DirectX hung error and display signal loss.

Hello guys. So i i ha a clean windows 10 pro 64 bit install. All is up to date and on ver 1909.

After joining a server, usually after less than a minute the game freezes with the error:

"DirectX function: "GetDeviceRemovedReason" failed with DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG ("The device is hung which is typically caused by issues in the graphics driver or alternatively the application"). GPU: "AMD Radeon RX 5700XT 50th Anniversary"."

I've tried different GPU drivers after a clean DDU reinstall without luck, Also reinstalled windows.

At first i thought it's an issue with my PC rather than BF4, yet i can run Metro Exodus on 2k Extreme settings for hours without a single issue.

Temps while gaming are: CPU 50C ish and GPU 45C. (Water cooled). Full specs are:

3800X stock. 5700XT AE stock. Gskill 3600 c15 2x8gb (fully stable HCI memtest). Samsung 970 Evo Plus 1TB. Corsair SF750 Platinum.

I've also noticed that battlefield gets changed from windowed to full screen to windowed to full screen etc.. on its own. Metro doesn't do that. I sometimes had a game freeze with no error but rather a full monitors signal loss and a hard reboot is required.

Things I've tried: turning off origin ingame. Turning off amd overlay ,freesync and vsr. Reinstalled os and drivers. Turned off ram oc (all oc). Fixed gpu clocks to stock. Run the game and origin as administrator. Tried different adrenaline versions.

Had no success this far. Please if anyone could help me play my favorite game 😕

Thanks.

    Attached the file.

I must add that the RAM is not the issue. Got this crashed with full stock 2133 ram and stock CPU.

Also BF4 worked beforehand on my 970 evo with the same RAM settings. What changed? got a new ssd 970 evo plus, and updated to windows 1909 on it. Couldn't play BF4 ever since :/

@CyberBongi AMD drivers crashing on 6_IMAGE_atikmpag.sys
GPU drivers fault and crashing also on cinebench
prolly you need to put your gpu to stock and mobo at full stock values via a bios reflash: msi afterburner and other OC programs are known to cause these random crashes.

give xp and mark it closed if so
    cheers mate!
  • @OttoVP hey thanks for the reply.

The cinebench crash was like afterwards. Just me playing with cpu clocks in bios. I've tried 4.4 all core 1.3v and it crashed cinebench.

When playing battlefield, I've tried with all stock and it still crashed. Never overclocked the GPU.

Today i played GTA V for a couple of hours without an issue at all. It's also direct x 11 like BF 4.

I have like over 1k hours in BF 4, it's my favorite game by far. Would appreciate any further help!

  • Still not fixed.

Let me elaborate on the issue:

I disabled all OC whatsoever. I've also tried lowering the GPU clocks lower and lower, they are now significantly below default clocks.

Looking at the event viewer, I have no other issues or crashes with the PC, except Battlefield 4 does.

The error of DirectX hang is still persistant, and the event viewer shows:

Currently experiencing the same issue. I have had no luck, but simply wanted to let OP know he isnt alone.

I have tried everything you have tried. ☹️

  • How can I fix this problem ?

This problem be in only BF4.

I try to reinstall graphic card driver + directx meny time, but it didn't work.
