I was able to fix it.
I reinstalled BF4 to my SSD drive and never moved/re-installed punkbuster to it. I was getting this error due to outdated/lack of punkbuster.
I just fixed this 10 minutes ago. Did the same thing as all the other fixes...pretty stupid but it works.
Open Battlelog > Top right corner, hover over your username then go to settings > Soldiers > Change your character portrait to something different.
Do that until it changes. I had to do it twice before it took effect. after that, Save and try joining a server again.

Just wanted to let you know that it really does work. I havnt posted anything on here in years but i need to say that this really works.
Go to settings>soldiers> change eblem.Save settings and your done.happy gaming bitchs 🙂:manhappy:
How much do you have to try it??? Cos every time i change my portrait and save it.... it goes back to the old one again, realllly weird.
