same problem here.
Dont want to restart my pc everytime bf4 crashes, which is realy often
- ShavedAp313 years agoNew Novice
I get this error after BF4 crashes and it doesnt show in task manager so the only solution is to restart.
I dont see restarting my computer as a solution to a problem sure it fixes it but I should not have to restart my computer just to play the game.
the fact that this still hasn't been fixed is rediculous.
ANY solution ?
I mean i don't understand why we have this problem e other people dont, i think we all might have the same hardware/software that makes this error. Please post the config of your pc
Video card: AMD Hadeon 6870
Processor: I3 3.10 gHZ
Antivirus: Kaspersky Pure
Wireless: Dlink
Video software: AMD catalyst control 13.11 BETA 8

I HAVE FOUND A SOLUTION THAT DOES NOT REQUIRE YOU TO REINSTALL THE GAME.
Go to the location of your bf4.exe.
Move it to your desktop. MAKE SURE IT IS NOT IN YOUR BF4 FOLDER
Restart computer
At this point, bf4.exe should no longer be suspended in your task manager.
Move bf4 back in to the folder
FOR WINDOWS 8 USERS: You will only find the bf4.exe in the "Details" tab in your task manager. - Anonymous13 years ago
This is hardly a SOLUTION. I have attempted to kill the process with taskkill, pskill etc but it wont remove it - having to reboot to make your game work is an EPIC fail, having customers reboot to safe mode and uninstall is even worse - this "bug" should be top of the dev's bug list and patched immediately - severely disappointed

It is a problem with Windows, not a bf4 problem. I had this and no amount of trying fixed it, I would have to restart my machine EVERY time I wanted to play a new game. REALLY frustrating.
I even tried uninstalling & reinstalling the game, removing the plugin, using third party tools to end the process, and using command line (as admin) "taskkill /im bf4.exe /f"
Nothing worked. NOTHING. Even process hacker failed me.
It turns out it is not a bf4 problem, but a windows problem. Something has become corrupt. Even Microsoft can't help - look at some of the comments on that page, people are having the SAME access is denied errors with skype, spotify etc.
The only way I could fix it was to perform a "system restore" to a time when it worked (Google will help if you don't know how). In the end it was relatively painless to do & much easier & faster than downloading again & reinstalling. Just do it, just fix your machine. - Anonymous13 years ago
If bf.exe can not be closed in Windows 8 and 8.1 You should close Windows with command "shutdown.exe /s /t 0".
Otherwise the bf.exe will be "hanging" in the TaskManagers "details"-tab (even after normal shutdown).
This has something to do with Windows 8 hybrid shutdown that enables computer for faster reboot time... go figure...seems to be a nice feature ;-)
Anyway this kind of "special" reboot fixed my issues with BF4 and hanging bf.exe.
Hope that helps.
ps. Command can be found under C:\Windows\System32\ -folder
