Everything in BF1 is unclickable after Creators Update -> unplayable

Product: Battlefield 1 (with premium pass)
Platform:PC

System specs:

Intel i5 2500K

AMD Radeon HD 6950 (Catalyst control center 2015.1104.1643.30033, Driver version 15.201.1151.1008-151104a-296217E, newest for this card)

8gb RAM

Win10 Pro with creators update


Summarize your bug:

After installing the Creator's Update for Win10 Battlefield 1 start normally but I can't interact with anything in the main menu. There is no change of the buttons or any sound when hovering the cursor above the buttons. Music plays normally in the background. When I Alt+tab out of the game I can't get back in, I only hear the background sound. Only way to exit is terminate task via task manager.

I can join friends ingame from the origin program from the desktop. Then the game starts like always and joins the server yet again I can't do anything from then on.

Before the creators update the game worked fine.

Steps done to resolve the problem:

- Disabled Origin overlay in game (was already disabled)

- Disabled Game Mode in windows settings

- Tried to run the game with various compatibility options


How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
How long has this issue been happening? Since Windows Creators Update

    Try plugging in a wired controller and launch the game, for me it works when doing so. I can use my mouse normally  and click on everything as long as I don't touch the controller and have it plugged in.

    Hello @Upcyte and thank you for the detailed information !

    Can you please try to Repair the game in origin client or reinstall the game?  As far as I know the Creator Update can cause some issues with Battlefield 1 and other users don't recommend to install this Update for a while.

    Thanks for the tips. Unfortunately they do not resolve the problem.

    @Upcyte Hey, if you swap the game to Windowed mode does that have any effect? We have some reports of issues with playing games in fullscreen since the Creator's update, and I'd like to see if that's a factor here.

    @EA_David I'm not able to put the game into windowed mode. The command lines -w or -windowed are not working. Since I can't acces anything ingame I can't change it there. Alt + Enter has no effect. Only way to start the game in windowed mode for some reason is when skype program is open however the game goes fullscreen when I click anything. My desktop resolution is 1920x1080 and my game resolution is set to 1680x1050.

    I see, thanks. I thought you'd be able to use Alt & enter.

    EDIT: Sorry, wrong game file. That'll teach me to use 2 similar templates. The correct step is to go to My Documents>> Battlefield 1>> Settings and open PROFSAVE_profile file via WordPad and find this line: GstRender.FullscreenEnabled 1 Change this to 0 to go to Windowed mode.

    @EA_David with that setting the game starts in windowed mode but unfortunately I still can't do anything with the mouse or keyboard ingame.
