Failed creating D3D device of at least version 10.0

I have installed Battlefield 4 BETA "Medal of Honor, Warfighter" but it won't start. I get the error message (see Subject Line) I have version 11.0 on my system and still there is a problem.

Please help me find a solution. Thank you

  • Windows 7 or 8 will always have DirectX 11 installed by default. But that doesn't mean that you can play games that require DirectX 11, your hardware needs to support DirectX 11, or DirectX 10.1 in this case, as well.

The graphics card you mentioned is only capable of DirectX 10, the game requires 10.1 for AMD or other vendors. The product specifications of your laptop don't mention a second dedicated graphics card besides the integrated Intel HD card: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02729693&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=5078513

You can re-install Intel's chipset and graphics card driver, but I'm quite sure it won't change anything ☹️

Simply because it doesn't change the fact that the integrated graphics card is not supported and below minimum requirements.

  • Hi rocacomp,

Battlefield 4 Beta is not available yet 🙂

You've most likely installed Medal of Honor Warfighter which requires at least a 512 MB video card featuring either an Nvidia chipset of at least a GeForce 8800 GTS or better, with GeForce 560 GTX or better recommended, or an AMD chipset of at least an ATI Radeon 3870 or better, with ATI Radeon 6950 or better recommended.

So, in short, you will need a graphics card that is capable of at least DirectX 10 for Nvidia cards or DirectX 10.1 for AMD and other vendors.

What graphics card are you using?

I have Intel HD Graphics on a HP Pavilion g7-1070us Notebook PC. I am updating the graphics drive at the moment and will get back with you.

I have DirectX Version 11.0 and it has run with no problems for some time now. I install your game and it tells me I need DirectX 10.1 or higher. Hello, I have version 11.0. There is something else going on here.
