24 sept 2012 .My BF3 worked perfectly for last 4 days after BF3 update 20 sept. Updated BF3 like i have done twice before with offical 3.4 updater from punkbuster. NORMAL procedure for allmost ALL games when updating Punkbuster. Punkbusters update has Broken BF3!! All attempts to correct including reinstalling punkbuster have failed. BF3 when repaired Claims NOTHING IS WRONG. when BF3 is lanched a pop up box from windows states Bf3 has stopped working. I'm No laywer but it seem punkbuster does no testing whatsoever. They take an eternity between updates & they are ineffective anyway after about a week it seems. SO DICE EA whoever, fix this vandalism caused by faulty crappy punkbuster coding. also why you are at it, been 2 months now & STILL no servers on my browser, still only 4 then broken lines! REAL UNPROFFESSIONAL. I AM NOT ALONE HERE! read postings us customers are furious at OBVIOUS denial of service. effectivly this is what your company is doing. time to find an alternative to the now becomming extremely discredeted punkbuster company.. sorry to say this but this is vandalism by punkbuster. that update from them 24 sept is NOT fully compatable with windows 7 FIX THIS PLZ. BF3 is my fav. game. plz dont keep me waiting
The latest version of Punkbuster appears to be broken. If you have updated to the most recent Punkbuster version and have been crashing on launch since then, you will want to downgrade the files in your PB folder.
That is, you'll want to replace the contents of the Battlefield 3\PB folder with the ones available in these archives.

You don't need to uninstall/reinstall Punkbuster if you're sure you already have it running and updated.
Punkbuster has released an update that should help. Further information is available here: http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=support-bf3.php
It says:
We are aware that some players are experiencing crashes in BF3 after Monday's PB Server update was released. These are players that used PBSETUP to manually update their PunkBuster for BF3.
***** To eliminate the crashing, these players should find and delete any pbsv.dll files located on their hard drive associated with BF3 (use the Windows search feature). Do not run PBSETUP again after the deletes or it will recreate the problem. ******
The crash prevents our auto-update and the file deletes are necessary to resume normal operation.
However, as they have now released an update, you should be able to manually check for an update via the pbsetup file and it should take care of the problem.i can add some more:
Restart your PC ALL time....run as administrator

Close all program also Origin

press Control-Alt-Delete (Open Windows Task Manager) go to services and look for PnkBstrB and PnkBstrA
if they run Right click on them and stop them. (If the run it is not sure that they will be un-install/remove)

Download pbsvc.exe ((run as administrator))

Restart your PC

install/re-install punkbuster service and run test service

login as an Administrator user,
1. open Windows Explorer and browse to c:\windows\system32
64 bit, you need to browse to c:\windows\syswow64
2. scroll down and find PnkBstrA.exe - PnkBstrB.exe,
3. right-click PnkBstrA.exe - PnkBstrB.exe and choose Properties.
4. click the Compatiblity tab.
5. click the button "Change settings for all users".
6. click the checkbox for "Run this program as an administrator".
7. click the "Ok".
8.Restart your PC

It is very important to open ports
Have you tried enabling these ports http://help.ea.com/article/online-ports-for-battlefield-3 [help.ea.com] ?
look in your router/modem manual how to do Port Forwarding
or call your ISP (to see if they are open)
or with PFConfig it is very easily. download select modem/router and games. and it does it for you

ive tried everything else including manually updating pb and uninstalling everything , ccleaner , reinstall all 21GB+
welcome to 7am in uk ..my weekend gone trying to get bf3 going pfff! [im an ex IT network engineer -so i know my way round!]
they're acting like councils adding one way streets to control traffic and just causing jams! they need to talk to eachother more or employ more people who are clever enough to actually fix the problems befor ethey come out into the general gaming public.
