First Mission - Can't destroy helicopter

Hey, I've spent the last hour trying to complete the first mission but I can't destroy the helicopter regardless of where I hit it - I've hit it on the side, the *pit and everywhere else and I see my grenade make impact and explode but the helicopter carries on regardless and blows me up and I've been stuck in this loop for what feels like a lifetime. I've deleted my data and started again but I'm still in the same position. 

Its not because I'm unable to play the game and that's why I can't destroy the helicopter.. I'm hitting it fine and it just won't go down :/ 

How can I fix this issue to progress through the game?

I'm on the PS4 and its a digital download.

    I remember this mission, took me quite a few tries to get past it. You may need to start from the last checkpoint as something is up with that part of the campaign. @Lions_OMG

    I've tried doing that along with restarting the game and nothing seems to be working ☹️ Luckily the multiplayer works fine just a shame I can only play one half currently.

    It's literally a timing exercise, no more no less. If you fire too early you die, if too late you die. I had to do that mission repeatedly the first time I did it, basically it turned out I had to fire about 1.5-2 seconds after I gained control and you have to hit the chopper dead center or you die. If you're a bit off in placement or timing you die.

    same here after few days or next day i went back you gotta hit *pit but i did it like 20 time its a bug just say off campaign for a day and then shoot the chopper

    lso the last mission remember to play it three time choose one then the other then neither just sayng
