For AMD GPU's directx 10.1 support is required - I have DX11

I just purchased a donloadable copy of BF3 and I keep getting an error about;

"Failed creating D3D device of at least version 10.0 on adapter ""ATI Radeon 3100 Graphics"" with driver 12.6"

A little lower it says;

For AMD and GPU's from other vendors, directx 10.1 support is required"

Here is my DXDIAG;

    Hi,

    it is not about which DX is installed but what the card supports. If I looked it up right,

    the ATI/AMD 3100 has the RV610 gpu. While is said that all of the 3000 series support 10.1

    the 3100 with the RV610 seems to be the exception and only goes up to DX10.0.

    I am sorry but you cannot fix this. The gpu just lacks the support for this game.

    You will have to replace your graphics card for one that support DX 10.1 or higher and has enough

    performance for the game.

    The ATI 3100 is a broken tinker toy of an IGP with terrible performance (it's also fairly long in the tooth).  Intel's current HD series video chips are 4 to 5 times better without being good enough.  Whether it had a limited Dx 10 capability or not is of no consequence whatever.
