Game crashes on exit, unexplainable weird crash

So I noticed this crash starting, around a month ago, and never had this issue before.  I remember clean installing an nvidia driver and making sure all other drivers were up to date from the msi driver area.  Then this crash started happening.  Its so far only happened when I close bf4, it seems when or after the application closes the screen goes black and GPU fans become 'stuck on high speed, being louder than normal'.   Have to hard power off system, and upon reboot there is no error message, as its not a blue screen.   Checked temperatures of GPU with afterburner and they are normal.  This is totally weird.  Contacted nvidia but seeing as this has only happened with BF4 I assume something with BF4 is the culprit.  Will test with another game I have, though I doubt the issue will happen on another game.

The crash occurs maybe 25-35% of the times after the game closes, either by alt f4 or the close button.  Sometimes the game closes fully and desktop shows for a couple seconds then screen goes black, other times during close the screen just goes black and the GPU fans roar.  I dont get it...

specs are  msi z87 gd-65 board, gtx780, 4770k, 16G ram, win7 64. ssd, hdd.  This issue is annoying and alarming, and I hope my hardware isnt being damaged because of this.  Please DICE take a look at what might be causing this, as the issue seems to be with BF4.  I dont see what else could be causing this, and I will double check that all drivers are up to date and test with another demanding game.

    confirmed, GPU BIOS flash fixed the black screen crash on game exit issue, no more crash. YAY. thanks for help, maybe post this suggestion else where

    @GA22ETT

    Can you try running the driver installer again (clean install) and choose only the graphics driver and PhysX and then let us know if that prevents the issue please.

    Tried that, had no effect.  On game exit it causes my system to crash to black screen almost every time.  This is really starting to * me off.  The game is basically unplayable because every exit my system hard crashes.  Good god.  Im a tech and programmer my system is 100% up to date all drivers, system clean, ran SFC check which was good, everything.  Just dont get it...!@#$% !@#$% !@#$%!@ #$!@ #%!@%#!%@#

    Here is another person describing the same problem Im having:

    "the weird thing is the pc crashes whenever I hit the quit button at the main menu or the game is beginning to load the next round. There is no error or BSOD, the system just freezes. The windows reliability report says that the windows is not properly shut down.

    Sometimes the screen just dies and I see the dvi signal lost on the monitor,  the fans keep running until I  hold down the power button to shut down the system. Sometimes I can see the desktop and move the cursor around for a few seconds then system crashes.

    I have no problems during gaming. BF4 runs perfectly on ultra settings without even getting any drops in fps. I've checked the cpu and gpu temperatures, max cpu temp is 50 and max gpu temp is 70 degrees(C). The temps seemed normal to me so I am guessing my graphics card is defective but I am not sure as I have no problems during gaming. I think I have the latest drivers but problem still persists."

    Heres the dxdiag x64.  Perhaps I should Flask the NVIDIA BIOS to see if that helps.  Though its probably unlikely to fix it.  edit: not going to flash GPU bios as its not worth the risk and latest bios is very minor change.  all other games work fine.

    Actually for the first time another game caused the same crash on exit.  Ive been digging around and it sounds like a GPU issue, driver or bios.   Its weird because I can play for awhile fine, but on close it crashes. Some say flash GPU bios fixes.  A lot of people have seem to have this issue.

    I advise against flashing your chipset or GPU BIOS.

    I think at this point we need to determine if your RAM is the issue.

    There are two ways, Memtest or testing your RAM modules individually by removing all but one and testing each one to attempt to find which one is potentially faulty.

    think i may have fixed it, with a suggestion i picked up online. I ended up doing a GPU bios flash with nvflash from techpowerup.com with a newer firmware, .  As well as a full clean install of nvidia driver.   Ran bf4 and quit it and restarted it 3 times, no issue.  i guess time will tell. may test ram just to be sure.  wow what an ordeal.
