Game Input Stops Working

Hi,

I am having an issue where some games running on the Frostbite game engine stop accepting keyboard and mouse input within 10-15 minutes of starting the game. The game doesn't freeze entirely, I still have sound and the game environment is still running in the background, but I'm unable to move or modify my character. It wont let me quit to the menu either, the only input I am able give it to alt+tab to go to desktop, I have to open task manager and end the process to quit the game.

I have had Battlefield One since Christmas, and I just recently bought Mirrors Edge Catalyst when it was on sale, and the problem is occurring in both games. I can't play for more then 10-15 minutes at a time without my keyboard and mouse inputs freezing. I'm aware people experienced this same issue with Battlefield 4, but I never did, I am now, however getting it with the newer games running on Frostbite.

I've tried everything I can think to do save for re-installing Windows and I have scoured forums looking for a solution, but nothing has worked.

Does anyone have any obscure potential fixes that I might have missed? Is DICE aware of this issue?

  • Hello! @I3ozo

Does this also happen with high demanding settings from other companies?

As you probably know, Battlefield 1 is quite a demanding game (hardware wise) and this makes the computer (if not good enough) not be able to proccess all the things that the processor is being asked to do.

Maybe you´re input is friend (try inserting the keyboard in other USB port and see if it stil does the same)

    Also, what are you´re specs?

    Hepful? :D

I'm not an EA employee so please,
If I helped you in any way press that "Give XP" button, also, if I fixed/solved your problem click "Accept as Solution" please! Thank you!

If it's the same amount of time each time it could suggest some hardware going into power saving mode. Like a hard drive which isn't being used by Windows or the game.

No, I've never had any issues with any other games, even from EA, it's only the newest generation of games using the Fostbite engine.

I've tried changing USB input ports, uninstalling my K+M drivers and using a different K+M altogether, but nothing works. It's not just K+M either, I use a joystick to fly and that cuts out too.

    Specs:

    i7-4790k

    16Gb RAM

    GTX 970

    Windows 10

    Thanks for the help.

What power profile are you running, high performance, balanced, etc?
