Firstly, thanks for the reply. I have tried deleting the file mentioned, without a change in the issue.
Here is a copy of my computer's parts:
Hi @TheMegosh, try the following:
Open your cmd.exe (by typing cmd into the run box) then type ‘netsh winsock reset catalog’ [without the quotes].

Thanks again, but the error persists.
In battlelog when I click "Play Now" on "Test Range", I can see the bottom banner show "Initializing". After I see BF4 open in the task bar, the banner changes to "Logging On/In", then about 1 sec later it shows "You were disconnected from EA Online ⚽" and dissapears from the task bar.
I can make a youtube video of it if needed, but it wouldnt show anything that I haven't described.

Hmm, weird. Did you try running the game as Admin?
-Run the game as ADMINISTRATOR.
Go to the Origin games folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 4) and find Bf4.exe. Right click it and go to PROPERTIES, then COMPATIBILITY and tick the box next to RUN THIS PROGRAM AS ADMINISTRATOR.
- Make sure you download and install the latest Battlelog plugins.
1: First uninstall the old Battlelog plugin by going to "Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features" and removing "battlelog web plugin".
2: Then log-in using Origin and go to battlelog page where you'll be prompted to download the latest web plugin (once you try to join a multiplayer server using the multiplayer server browser).
3: After you have installed this Plugin you should clear your cache, exit your browser.
4: Then, restart your browser and re-login to Origin to ensure a proper install.
5: If this doesn't work then you should try a different browser (Chrome/Maxthon/Firefox, etc)- 12 years ago
I have UAC disabled on my PC. Also might be worth noting that I'm running Win 8.1.
I tried running as admin as directed, same error. (everything henceforth is running as admin)
Uninstalled the browser plugin, restart pc, clear cache same error.
Tried using Firefox (was using Chrome), uninstalled browser plugin, restart pc, clear cache, same error.
I really appreciate your help thus far, regardless of the lack of success.
On a side note, I'm wondering if there is some unusual registry or similar trace thingyish that could be left behind from when I had the game installed on my SSD many months ago. It was working perfectly x64 and x86 back then. My process of uninstall and install has been entirely through the Origin client, not simply deleting/moving the directory, as I'm aware how finicky these things can be.
