Hey, I play bf1 from 1 year and i am not a pro or something but if that helps you, I have obtined dogtgs only from meele kills. So thats what ca I tell you.
- when you steal them by melee kills they only accumulate in one count but if you notice the dog tags they are still blocked, that is, you can not use them unless you get them by the unlock criteria, either by code, solution of an easter egg , community mission, etc

So, i'll put in a new and more detailed answer.(if it's even needed)
Basically there are many Youtube Videos to find for each of the Easter Egg puzzles, so just looks for what you need.
